In two mated anthologies, ten female authors (the Yin Book) and ten male authors (the Yang Book) worked together to interweave stories stemming from a single location and event. Think Rashomon meets Run Lola Run with a dash of Spiderman-meets-Batman. Those of you who like my flash fiction should note that my story in this is a full short story, ~4000 words. The stories are complete or nearly so, and in the e.mails among the group, our editors, Jodi Cleghorn and Paul Anderson, are pulling back the curtain to give us writers a peek at their Ultra Secret Plan For World Domination And High Amazon.com Ranking. Very cool!

ReplyDeleteJen B: I laughed out loud for a long time at your comment! The best part about that story is that, unlike zombies or teenage vampires, it's perfectly within the realm of possibility. That makes it all the more horrible, but keeps it "literary"!

I think that's why I liked it, too. It felt really real, and I actually *liked* the guy who ended up being the worst. That's the best kind of twist.
