Wednesday #Poetry: Grip, Prefer, Thread

Welcome to my regular Wednesday poetry corner, brought to you by Three Word Wednesday and One Shot Wednesday.

Today's words are Grip, Prefer, Thread.

The thread now in Clotho's tight grip
Atropos is trying to clip
I'd prefer it stay long
 The line is still strong
For Lachesis wove it with a whip

UPDATE: By popular demand, here's a link to an article about the three Fates: fair Lachesis who sees what was, strong Clotho who sees what is and old Atropos who sees what is to come.

  6. After I read Stephen King's Insomnia, I had a whole different image of the three personages in question. :) Very well done, Tony.

  7. You see before you the wreckage of a classical education. The Three Fates, reduced to characters in a limerick. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. 8-)

    Thanks for reading, everyone!
